I was born to become a painter, and started having separate exhibitions of oil paintings, aquarelles and drawings as early as 1976 - and every single year after, for more than two decades. Then my strong urge to compose with the pencils on the canvas made a slow, but perfect crossfade with the urge to compose music. So instead of being a guitar playing painter I have become a guitar playing composer. To most people just as irrelevant.

My early influences were nature (mineral collecting in the mountains), music (blues, Frank Zappa, and flamenco) and surrealism, especially Salvador Dalí. My first attempted pilegrimage to meet Dalí in Figueras was together with fellow guitar player Per Frydenlund in Hot Club de Norvège in 1977. The year after I packed my brushes, grabbed my guitar, and moved to Barcelona - supposedly for good - in order to study close to Salvador Dalí. That was the beginning of a lifelong love affair, to Catalonia, and to surrealism.

However, in Barcelona I also met for the first time the gypsies, and with time I got completely captivated by the guitaristic art of Django Reinhardt. Nevertheless painting was my life for more than two decades, and I am the most surprised one to the fact that this actually changed. I would never had guessed.

Most of my pictures were sold, and I have no idea where they are now, but some I have photos of - which are exhibited here in the virtual gallery section. Please contact me if you have other paintings, aquarelles or drawings to include here - thank you in advance!
