The legendary jazz violinist IVAR BRODAHL (1928-2003) was one of the original pioneers of the jazz violin, and of the same exclusive calibre as Stéphane Grappelli, Svend Asmussen, Stuff Smith and Jean Luc Ponty. He was a popular character in the 50-ies jazzscene, but rose to fame when he joined Hot Club de Norvège in 1979. IVAR BRODAHL was the leading solist there for six years, until he retired in 1986. They recorded five LPs together, plus a variety of singles and broadcasts. We have collected his best ever 19 tracks and put them together to this impressive portrait of one of best kept secrets in jazz: the violinist IVAR BRODAHL - a must! Bonus: the 1983 radio hit TANTA TIL BEATE, with folk singer/songwriter Lillebjørn Nilsen! |
